Manchester United is zeroing in on the Asian market. The team has joined up with Fuji TV in a deal to provide exclusive club content. The move follows the recent signing of the star Japanese player Shinji Kagawa.
The three-year tie-up with Fuji TV will see MUTV content such as full match coverage, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage made available on Fuji ONE, TWO and NEXT.
Fuji TV will air pre-match shows and interview specials, as well as documentaries and archived programmes.

Billionaire investor George Soros bought about 3.1 million Class A shares worth more than USD$40 million. Team organizers hope to raise about $333 million. Controlling interest belongs to the American investor Malcolm Glazer.

In other soccer news, the London-based Anglian Holdings corporation will sponsor India’s Durand Cup soccer tournament.
“We were shocked that Asia’s oldest and the world’s third oldest tournament was struggling to find a sponsor,” said Anglian representative Sandeep Narang,”…it was an emotional decision,” he said.
The 12-team quarter-final league round of the 2012 Durand Cup begins on 23rd August, with the final scheduled for 1st September.
The Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has named Fun88 as the club’s Asian betting and gaming partner. The deal will see the two parties offer a range of off and online activities, including launching a co-branded gaming microsite.
The Spurs’ 2012/13 Premier League campaign kicked off with a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United recently at the Sports Direct Arena.
The Premier League side Sunderland AFC is reported to have signed a deal with the America’s Cup challenger from South Korea. The arrangement will have an exchange of logos displayed on the Team Korea yacht and inside the Stadium of Light during Premier league games.
Team Korea is one of eight teams competing in the 2012/13 America's Cup World Series and one of four that will contest the Louis Vuitton Cup, the winner of which will go on to challenge Team Oracle USA for the 35th America's Cup in San Francisco next year.
The Indian whiskey brand Royal Stag will sponsor the New Zealand cricket team during its tour of India. The distillery’s Pernod Ricard India brand will be displayed on the Black Caps team shirts on their tour that includes two Tests in Hyderabad on August 23rd and two Twenty20 matches in Vishakhapatn on September 8th and in Chennai three days later.
In golf news, The hotel/resort Venetian Macao is the new title sponsor of the Venetian Macao Open golf tournament. The Macao Open was first launched in 1998, and has since attracted champions such as European stars Lee Westwood of England and Scotsman Colin Montgomerie.
The week rounded off with news that Singha Corporation has renewed its sponsorship of the Thai Boxing Association for another four years. Enthusiasm for the sport was boosted by the silver medal victory of Thai boxer Kaew Pongprayoon at the London Olympics.
